iNTEGRATED TRAINING & FORMATION

The Immaculate Heart of Mary Counseling Center offers the only Catholic APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program in the nation as part of the Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology.

Our Clinical Program funds one or two doctoral interns in the clinical track each year, beginning August 1 and concluding the following July 31.

According to SAMHSA, “Any Mental Illness (AMI) is defined as having a diagnosable mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder, other than a developmental or substance use disorder. Any mental illness includes persons who have mild mental illness, moderate mental illness, and serious mental illness."

Perfectionism

NOvember 2020

David Burns claimed that pathological perfectionists are “those whose standards are high beyond reach or reason, people who strain compulsively and unremittingly toward impossible goals and who measure their own worth entirely in terms of productivity and accomplishment.” He contrasted this type of perfectionism with the more peace-filled approach he called a healthy pursuit of excellence.

 

Pregnancy and Infant LosS

Dealing with a death in the family is very difficult – experiencing the death of a child through miscarriage, neonatal death or stillbirth is no exception. Once we find out we are pregnant we start having a host of hopes and dreams for this little one that will be joining our family. These are then dashed as we get the devastating news that our little one has died.
