IHMCC Telehealth Tips and Tricks

Before your first telehealth session:

Activate your client portal from the link sent to your email.


Client Check List

  • Do I have a computer, tablet, or smart phone with a camera or webcam?

  • Do I have access to one of the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox or Safari?

  • Do I have headphones?

  • Do you have a private area (private room, car, access to sound machine)?

Quick Instructions for those active in the Client portal:

*You must use the following browsers:  Chrome, Firefox, or Safari

  1. Go to immaculateheartcounseling.org

  2. click "Client Portal" (button on top right of webpage)

  3. Log in using email and password

  4. Find Appointment tab

  5. Find today's session in either upcoming OR kept appointments

  6. "Start session"

  7. Type your name and allow access to microphone and camera

  8. "Join Immaculate Heart Counseling"

  9. Wait for your counselor to join the session.

If you are still having issues with video and audio:

  1. Make sure your browser settings are set to allow (see photo)

  • Find the lock symbol at the top left near the refresh button

  • Make sure both your camera and microphone are set to “allow”

  • Sometimes you need to click “allow” again to activate them 

2. Try to unplugging your webcam and plugging it back in

3. Try a different device.  If you are having issues with your iPad, computer, phone etc. and have the means to try a different device, we suggest doing so.

Tips for Chrome settings:

You can use your camera and microphone for sites in Chrome. 

Computer AndroidiPhone & iPad

Open Chrome
Go to a site that wants to use your microphone and camera
When prompted, choose Allow or Block.

-Allowed sites: Sites can start to record when you're on the site. If you're using a different Chrome tab or a different app, a site can't start recording.
-Blocked sites: Some sites won't work if you block them. For example, you won't be able to join a video conference

Change a site's camera and microphone permissions

  1. Open Chrome .

  2. At the top right, click More Settings.

  3. At the bottom, click Advanced.

  4. Under "Privacy and security," click Site settings.

  5. Click Camera or Microphone.

    • Turn Ask before accessing on or off.

    • To remove an existing exception or permission, to the right of the site, click Delete .

If you're using a Chrome device at work or school, your network administrator can set camera and microphone settings for you. In that case, you can't change them here. Learn about using a managed Chrome device.

Fix problems with your mic

If your microphone isn’t working, try these steps:

Step 1: Make sure you aren't muted

If you’re using a headset, make sure the mute switch on the cord is off. Also, make sure you aren't muted on the website (like Google Hangouts or Skype).

Make sure your microphone is the default recording device, and that recording levels are correct:
